Dr. Rick and Shannon Carter
Senior Pastor
Dr. Rick L. Carter has been the Senior Pastor here at Canyon Creek since April of 2002. Dr. Carter was saved at the age of 15 and has been in the ministry for over 40 years. His desire is to build a church that will bring honor and glory to Jesus Christ and provide an atmosphere of love and warmth where every individual becomes a part of the greater family of Canyon Creek Baptist Church.
He and Shannon demonstrate the same desire to provide a family atmosphere through their own family. They are a close family with three children and five grandchildren. He is a golfer and enjoys sports of all kinds.
Dr. Carter served ten years as Vice President of Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri. His education includes a Graduate of Theology degree from Baptist Bible College, a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts degree in Christian Education from Freedom University in Orlando, Florida, a PhD from Faith Baptist Bible College, and an Honorary Doctor of Divinity from Baptist Bible College.
Prior to his tenure at the college, Dr. Carter served as the Pastor of Bible Baptist Church in Gulfport, Mississippi, for 21 years. During that time, the church grew from a small nucleus to an average of 450-500. The church completed three major building programs, generated a strong missions emphasis, and operated a Christian school. In his early ministry, Dr. Carter planted the New Testament Baptist Church in Pascagoula, Mississippi, and has served as an Associate Pastor, Youth Pastor, Children's Church Director, and a Bus Director. Pastor and Shannon make their home in the Firewheel area of Garland, Texas.
Mr. David and Cheryl Roberts
Executive Administrator
Dave Roberts is the Executive Administrator for Canyon Creek Ministries. In this role, Mr. Roberts has leadership responsibility for all business and administrative activities for both Canyon Creek Baptist Church and Canyon Creek Christian Academy. In addition, Dave is currently Chairman of the Missions Board, Director of the G.R.O.W. Outreach program, Coordinator of Financial Peace University and head of our local chapter of the All Pro Dads’ Network.
Mr. Roberts brings over 35 years of business success and executive leadership. He has been the driving force behind the transformation of numerous organizations throughout his career while consulting with Churches, small businesses, and individuals enabling innovation and high performance.
Formerly, as an owner of his own company, a Partner at Accenture, a Vice President at EDS, and a Senior Executive at General Motors, Dave has established an outstanding track record of personal and organizational success. His leadership and personal contributions helped make Accenture a leader in high performance business process outsourcing, revitalized EDS’ growth mindset, and brought end-user computing and Executive Information Systems to GM. As parents of five children, Dave and his wife Cheryl have actively shared their leadership, love, and commitment with both Canyon Creek Baptist Church and Christian Academy since 1998. Both are active choir members, teach the new adult “Serving Singles” Sunday School class and until recently taught 5th and 6th grade Sunday School Classes.
Prior to joining Canyon Creek Baptist Church, Dave led the Music Ministry, taught elementary Sunday School and was on the Board of Trustees at Shalom Baptist Church in Orion, Michigan for 17 years.
Mr. Roberts holds Bachelor’s degrees in Industrial Engineering and Industrial Administration from Kettering University (GMI) and has completed Executive Studies at Wharton Business School, the University Of Indiana School Of Business, and the American Graduate School of International Management - Thunderbird. Dave and Cheryl currently reside in Richardson, Texas.
Dr. Duane and Linda Adkins
Assistant Pastor / Missions Pastor
Dr. Duane Adkins has served as Assistant Pastor at CCBC since February of 1996. He and Linda moved to Richardson after serving 20 years in the ministry in Washington and California. Their desire is to minister to the needs of the members of the church and to help them become all that God wants them to be. His main responsibilities include Missions, Discipleship, Ministry Development, Bible Study Ministry, and Special Projects for Pastor Carter.
Duane and Linda were saved in 1968 while he was serving as a Captain in the United States Air Force. The Lord called Duane to full-time ministry and he began his training in 1971. He and Linda have a close-knit family consisting of three children, and nine grandchildren.
Before coming to CCBC, Dr. Adkins served for ten years as the Pastor of Grace Baptist Church in Olympia, Washington. Prior to going to Olympia, he served as an Assistant Pastor at Central Baptist Church in Anaheim, California, and Landgren Memorial Baptist Church in Kent, Washington. He also served as a pastor in Norman, Oklahoma, and Emporia, Kansas.
He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Oklahoma University in Norman, a Graduate of Theology degree from Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Northwest Graduate School of the Ministry in Redmond, Washington. Duane and Linda currently make their home in Wylie, Texas.
Rev. Scott and Sheri Quidley
Worship / Children's Pastor
Scott Quidley has served as Music & Worship Pastor at Canyon Creek since August of 2004. Scott desires to minister to the hearts of people and bring praise and honor to God through music. Scott has a heart for God and desires to lead the congregation in their desire to worship the Lord. Scott also serves as Children's Pastor and oversees the Children's Ministry of Canyon Creek Ministries.
Scott was born in Mississippi and comes from a pastor's home. He came to know Christ as his personal Savior in 1978. He was called to full-time ministry in 1985 at McCauley Avenue Baptist Church in San Antonio, where his father is senior pastor.
Scott and Sheri, the daughter of Pastor Rick and Shannon Carter, were married in 1995, and they have three children, Kyle(10), Celeste(7), and Chase (3). Scott is a gifted musician and vocalist. He not only enjoys music, he enjoys computers, reading, and playing golf. Sheri is also a gifted vocalist. Sheri attended Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri. Sheri serves as a K4 teacher in the academy.
Scott Quidley served as Music and Youth Pastor at McCauley Avenue Baptist Church for 4 years, Minister of Music and Business Administrator at Bible Baptist Church in Gulfport, Mississippi for 8 years, Minister of Music and Worship at Blue Ridge Baptist Temple in Kansas City, Missouri for 2 years and Music & Worship Pastor at Friendship Baptist Church in Owasso, Oklahoma for 4 1/2 years. Scott, Sheri and family currently make their home in Wylie, Texas.
Mr. Jeff & Alisha Miller
Youth Pastor
Jeff was born and raised in Delaware.He accepted Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior when he was 19 years old. It was not until two years later at a youth camp that he knew God was calling him into full-time ministry. Jeff followed in obedience and began attending Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri. Alisha was born and raised in Tennessee and accepted Christ as her Savior at the age of 5. While attending College Days at BBC, she felt God calling her to go to BBC and major in Early Childhood Education. Shortly after moving to BBC, Jeff and Alisha met, fell in love, and got married. While in Missouri, they taught Sunday School and Children's Church; were leaders in the AWANA program; volunteered in the youth group; and served as camp counselors at various camps. God worked on their hearts and called them back home to Southside Baptist Church in Dover, Delaware in January of 2006. Jeff accepted the role of Youth Pastor at Canyon Creek in January 2008. Jeff and Alisha are involved in a variety of ministries and enjoy the work God has given them. The Millers have two boys, Parker and Carson. Jeff and Alisha reside in Richardson, Texas.
Mr. Byron and Anita Vaughn
Spanish Pastor
Byron has served as Spanish Pastor of CCBC since August of 2006. Byron began his college education at Birmingham-Southern College where he received his Bachelors in Spanish. He then went on to Pensacola Theological Seminary and received his Masters in Divinity. It was at Pensacola that he met Anita who was from Peru and pursuing her Masters in Education Administration. Byron and Anita have been married for seven years and they have a six-year old daughter Ruthy. Anita is the Spanish teacher at CCCA. The Vaughns make their home in Wylie, Texas.
Rev. Andy and Sharon Wright
Academy Headmaster
Andy Wright is the Headmaster of Canyon Creek Christian Academy. Mr. Wright has served here at Canyon Creek since 2002. Andy is a graduate of East Texas Baptist University and New Orleans Theological Seminary. He has served as a teacher, youth pastor, pastor, middle school principal, high school principal, administrator and headmaster. Andy has led schools as large as 850 students. Andy and Sharon serve faithfully at Canyon Creek Baptist Church as teacher of our SALT adult bible fellowship, Life Development class leader, GROW team member and other various ministries. Andy is married to Sharon, who heads up our Discovery School, and they have two children, Lawson and Allison. The Wrights make their home in Allen, Texas.
Mr. Eric and Vanessa Groves
Facilities Administrator
Eric joined the Canyon Creek Staff in August of 2007 as the Facilities Administrator for the Church and the Academy. Eric desires to serve the Lord by helping to create the best environment needed for those serving Him. Born in Ohio, he came to know Christ as his personal Savior in August of 1993. While attending Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, TN, Eric worked the summers at the ministries of Camp Chautauqua in Miamisburg, Ohio. It was during this time that he met his wife Vanessa while she was traveling serving the Lord through music. After Eric graduated from Temple, they were married in July of 1999 and he joined the staff at TTU. In August of 2001, the Lord called them to serve at Vanessa’s home church, Fairwinds Baptist Church in Bear, Delaware. They have 3 children: Izabel (5), Andrew (3) and Matthew (1). The Groves reside in Richardson, Texas.
Ms. Lori Adams
Business Administrator / Director of Finance
Lori came to Canyon Creek Baptist Church in August of 2004. Lori is the Business Administrator and the Director of Finance for the Church and the Academy. Lori was raised in the home of a pastor. Lori attended and graduated from Baptist Bible College in Springfield, MO. Lori has served as Treasurer of the treasurer's association for the State of Oklahoma. Lori also served as City Treasurer/Finance Director for two Oklahoma cities. Lori has a heart for ministry and desires to serve the Lord at Canyon Creek Baptist Church and see the church go forward for the cause of Christ. Lori enjoys hosting people at her home, she also plays percussion in the church orchestra. Lori makes her home in Plano, Texas.
Mrs. Jody Ginn
Office Manager / Senior Pastor's Secretary / Administrative Assistant
Jody has served at Canyon Creek Baptist Church since 2001. Jody does a host of things here at Canyon Creek. She is the office manager and also serves as the Senior Pastor's Personal Secretary. Jody attended Baptist Bible College in Springfield, MO. Jody is married to Gregg and they have three daughters, one son-in-law, and one grandchild. Jody and Gregg reside in Plano, Texas with their daughters and pets.
Mr. Tom Shipman
Director of Outreach
Tom joined the Canyon Creek Ministries staff in February of 2008 after a successful career at EDS. Tom serves as Director of Outreach.
Mr. Clay Denton
IT Administrator
Clay joined the Canyon Creek Ministries staff in February of 2008. Clay directs all the information technology for the church and academy.
Mrs. Jan Mitchell
Director of Mother’s Day Out & Preschool Ministries
Jan serves as the Director of Mother’s Day Out and Preschool Ministries. Her desire is for Canyon Creek to be a place where children can feel secure and learn how special God has made them and where parents can know their children are loved and cared for. She came to Canyon Creek in 1996 and also serves in the academy overseeing the pre-school department and directing the STAR after school program and summer program. She is married to Jack and has two children. Jan and Jack reside in Richardson, Texas.
Mrs. Jeanene O'Brien
Nursery Coordinator
Jeanene serves as the Nursery Coordinator. She directs all the Nurseries at Canyon Creek Baptist Church. Jeanene is married to Michael, who teaches at Canyon Creek Christian Academy. They have four children. Jeanene and Mike live in Wylie, Texas.
